Pepper McKay is dead, and just about everyone in Absaroka County is suspect. Maybe its easier to say that just about everyone who ever met Pepper is a suspect. Including Longmire himself. And a certain someone is the new Attorney General for Wyoming. How will Walt figure out which child, victim, or acquaintance is the killer?

My wife and I have been going to see Craig Johnson on his book tour (Main Point Books) for several years. At the tour date and in the introduction Craig talks about how this book is his riff on The Brothers Karamazov and who the real killer is in that story. This is less quirky and spiritual than some other Longmire entries. Pepper is a real piece of work, and never met a woman he didn’t want to force himself on. I enjoyed it as a both a Longmire story and a book in discussion with Brothers Karamazov.
