Outside of Jesus Christ, Paul of Tarsus is the most written about (and argued about) figure in the Christian world. Over time study of Paul goes back and forth on how his background, his personality, his pastoral presence (or lack thereof) influence how we understand his letters and his actions in the book of Acts and in church history. NT Wright spearheaded a movement towards understanding Paul within the context of Second Temple Judaism, and how we understand Paul’s teachings on law and grace. This book is his commentary on the related letters to the Colossians and Philemon.

I read this in preparation to using Wright’s Bible study on Colossians and Philemon for Groups. This was originally published 20ish years ago and has been superseded by a new round of commentaries. Wright dies a good job of explaining his ideas on the background of the writing of the epistles and his ideas on Paul.
