Donut, Carl, and the remaining crawlers find themselves in the Hunting Grounds, a level where hunters (tourists who have paid for the honor of hunting the crawlers and selling their gear to the various factions in a lower level) are after the crawlers. In the meantime, they still have a level to figure out and the Butcher’s Masquerade for the top 50 at the end of level to survive. Can Carl and the other crawlers work together to fight the hunters? Or will the hunters kill the humans?

More levels, more problems, more backstory, more moving pieces, and more depth. I have found the books get better as they go along.
