2024 #21 – Tom Slick: True Life Encounters in Cryptozoology

by Loren L. Coleman

Tom Slick was a Texas oil man, right out of central casting. During the post war period, he funded several expeditions to find the Yeti, the Sasquatch, and was involved with other searches, expeditions, and research. Loren Coleman does a good job showing the breadth of his interest, giving biographical details on his family and how they made their fortunes, and then we get to the last chapter.

Where we find out all of the circumstantial and real evidence that Mr. Slick was likely using his cryptozoology interests (which seem life long and real) to help give cover to intelligence gathering operations. This book is an update on Loren’s earlier – “Tom Slick and the Search for the Yeti” which talked about the expeditions but lacked the information and the ability to discuss the intelligence aspects.

It is a very interesting read, I only wish that the two sides of Mr. Slick had been explored together.
