Set in the aftermath of Revenge of the Sith, Darth Vader is searching for more. Bleeding his kyber crystal red, he has visions of greater power in the force; even over death. The Emperor sends him to Diso to track down a force wielding shaman who can “resurrect” beings. Colonel Halland Goth, commander of the Royal Guard, and a unit of the scarlet robed guards accompany him. But Goth has orders from the Emperor to report on Vader. Goth has his own secret, a rare disease that bacta can’t cure. Will they find what they are looking for? Or will they betray each other?

Goth is the main point of view character for most of the book. This means it took a while for me to get into the character. Goth has an incurable disease that no one seems to know about… but he’s a colonel in the Imperial Army. No scans have revealed it? Anyway, its a good story – but we now have another variation on Vader’s movements post Mustafar.
