2025 – #46 Humor, Resistance, and Jewish Cultural Persistence in the Book of Revelation: Roasting Rome

by Sarah Emanuel

The author posits that Revelation would be better read as a Jewish Christ Follower in the late 1st Century using humor as a means of resisting Roman power.

An interesting supposition, with some well thought out points. I enjoyed it as a new way of processing the Revelation. I am not sure how persuasive I found it as a way to read the whole text – although it is an interesting way to read certain passages.
