2025 #36 – Nobody Walks

By Mick Herron

Liam Bettany is dead, and his estranged father Tom is back in London to find out why. But the ex MI5 agent is wanted by Irish gangsters he was undercover to destroy. And Ingrid Tearney sends psychologist JK Coe as messenger to Bettany, and Bad Sam Chapman assists his former colleague. But is Tom’s desirefor revenge being manipulated by “5”? And in the end, will this angry father care?

This is a straight ahead revenge thriller, that part way through starts to gain espionage elements and Slough House connections. We get to see Tearney in action. We get more of Coe’s backstory. And what this book lacks is Slough House’s sense of dry humor.
