Star Wars: Doctor Aphra Vol. 5: The Spark Eternal

by Alyssa Wong with Minkyu Jung (Illustrator)

Dr. Aphra and Sana are on a quest to find The Spark Eternal. Will the Spark corrupt Dr. Aphra just like it does everything else it touches? How will Sana Starros seperate Aphra from the AI that is the Spark Eternal? Fun Dr. Aphra story, but I prefer the earlier series. TBP of Issues #21-25 of the Dr. Aphra series.

Star Trek: The Q Conflict

by Scott Tipton (Author), David Tipton (Author), David Messina (Illustrator)

The Q are in conflict with the other beings of great power in the universe (that our intrepid TV shows have encountered) – the Metrons, the Squire of Gothos and the Organians… and they decide to have teams from The Original Series, The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, and Voyager compete to see who wins… A lot of fun fan service, but its a Q story that falls a little short.

Also, this is where I hate the inability of the various media in the Star Trek universe to have continuity. Back in the 1990’s there was a bestselling TNG book called “Q Squared”, where it was revealed that the Squire was a “Q”. In fact, I loved the idea of Q having to mentor young Trelane… Ugh.
