Light weapons, training in your dreams, an evil empire, and a protagonist who has to level up to get his revenge. There are a lot of elements that are interesting here. The first part of the book introduces us to the world, its technology, the people, and the dream state. Then things change and our hero levels up. And then new locations, new trainings, new backstory.
But the tone is all over the place, the real world is grimdark. The dream state is static and happy, until its not. The book is a bit choppy, there is some repetition, and it feels like an editor would have been helpful.
