Children of the Corn
By Stephen King
Picked this up for 99 cents on Kindle, driving through the never ending corn fields in Nebraska Burt and Vicky have an accident… but is the young man they hit dead by their car? Where is everyone? And why are there verses of the Bible and images of corn everywhere?
An intense short story, its easy to see why this one was chosen for adaptation…even if there are numerous changes. Spooky, short, read.

Throttle
By Joe Hill with Stephen King
A biker gang called the Tribe is dealing with some father/son tension, and a meth deal gone bad. On their way back from dealing with the situation with the meth deal, they encounter a semi driver who is out to destroy them…. Who will win – the bikers of the semi driver?
A taut short story with equal parts backstory between Vince and Race and the trip that ends with this duel… and this book owes a lot to Richard Matheson’s Duel. Hill seems to have his father’s knack for short story writing. Good, intense read.
