One cold night, as Lucien, Henry, and Walt are waiting on their steaks to cook on the grill, Henry and Walt tell Lucien a story about a time, post-Vietnam when Walt took a job in Alaska to avoid everyone… and Henry came to visit. The rest of the story involves a huge, injured polar bear, a ghost ship, and human betrayal. All told before the steaks are done…

I really like Longmire stories, and this one is a flashback with enough Walt and Henry interplay to be fun. It helps to fill in Walt’s state of mind after returning from the war. Since the main storyline revolves around flashbacks of the pair travelling to boot camp, this helps to see the aftermath of that time. It does have a fair amount of the Longmire woo – history and super natural elements, so if coincidences aren’t your thing, you may not enjoy this one.
