An Amazon deal (either freebie or 99 cent). Jeff Wheeler’s Muirwood series has been around for several years now. I was vaguely aware of it (a friend had recommended it as something they liked). I got this cheap and started last year and finally finished it this one. 

Eilean was a foundling, taken in at Tintern Abbey. She’s is sent with a group to found a new abbey in Muirwood. She becomes the night maid for Mordaunt, the druid who is the King’s former advisor. But its the secrets and magic he knows that will change Eilean’s life forever…

This was maybe the wrong book to start with? My understanding is that it is a prequel to the Muirwood series of books. The first half of this is a slow burn, a lot characterization…but not much happens. By the time things got interesting, at the back of my head I was thinking – we are not going to get answers in this book. And while I was intrigued by the second half, I am not going to continue the series.
