By Emily St. John Mandel
Eli and Lilia live together in Brooklyn, until one day Lilia doesn’t return home. From there Eli begins to obsess over her, and eventually gets a note that she is in Montreal….
This is Emily St. John Mandel’s first published novel. It has her signature literary style – time jumps and flashbacks, written in an “autofiction” style. Enjoyable with a a bit of a twist at the end… I had to reread the last few pages a couple of times to fully appreciate it. Like most of her novels I am not sure what I can say without ruining the twists and turns. You can see the style that comes to fruition in Station Eleven begin here.
