By Jennette McCurdy
This read was both funny and brutal. I bought the book, because my oldest wanted to read it (23 and used to watch iCarly and Sam and Cat with a cousin). I found out they were waiting on me to finish before they started…so I powered through it. I had seen some episodes of iCarly and Sam and Cat, and thought they were harmless tween fair….But I am trying to remember the last time I read a child actor who lived a normal life. I guess those are the ones that don’t get written. I read about the dysfunctional way her mother treated her, the way her Dad wouldn’t engage. And the way the rest of the adults in her life….anyway. She can be bitingly honest and very funny. But her mental health struggles made me feel like she really needed one solid adult in her life.
