By Ellis Peters
I have been very busy at work, so I am a bit behind, so three reviews today of books I’ve so far in February.
World Famous Soprano Maggie Tressider has a car accident that unlocks a vague memory that she may have been responsible for someone’s death in her past. She retains someone to investigate. As he is both investigating and falling in love with her, PI Francis Killian comes across a tour she had been on before she was famous, one that Bunty Felse happened to chaperone. The part of Europe that this happens is near the border of several countries, and George has an unsolved disappearance in that area. So the Felses’ discreetly follow Francis, only to find several layers of mysteries taking place, and they may all end up in real trouble….
A lesser Felse book. It takes a while for them to appear, and while they are a bit “Deus Ex Machina” in the conclusion, Peters ties it all together well.
