While on holiday with his parents, Dom Felse sees someone in trouble in the water. Jumping in, he saves the young man, only to be told by young Paddy that he had jumped in after seeing someone on the water… thus begins a tale of Tamsin, of a scholarly opening of an old tomb with two fresh bodies in it, riddle like old epigraphs, and a mystery that includes the truth about parents, adoption, smuggling, and murder.
A quick, enjoyable read. Dom gets more interesting as he grows up. Being around the Felses is like being in Cabot Cove, Maine – murder around every corner. The characters are more engaging than the mystery itself.
