Welcome to San Cicaro…jewel of California where weird things are starting to happen all of the time. San Cicaro is a shared writing universe in an urban fantasy setting. This is a collection of short stories (first in a series of three books so far) exploring the growing weirdness. Unlike most anthologies I’ve read there is not a story here that I dislike or got bored with. They stayed on track and because this is the introduction there was no long off screen back story to know. The stories range from some more combat focused to some more in the spooky horror vein and a couple that could have been X-Files standalones. The range of authors has good diversity and focus. They even work mentions of the first story and several place names into the various stories. The downside? The stories were short and there were only a few characters that would work for me in a longer novella or novel.
