A collection of three short Brother Cadfael stories. One is set after his return to the Isle and happens just before joining the abbey. The other two are early in his tenure at Shrewsbury. Each one helps to setup his tenure as sleuth in residence. Each story is a good length and is enjoyable – although none has a deep mystery.
