By Frank Herbert
I reread Dune for the first time in a decade, preparing for the movie. I got about as far as the new movie got – before it came out. And finished it this week. The movie was excellent, although it did require knowledge of the books or one of the previous adaptations (the Lynch movie or the Sci-Fi miniseries). Outside of the Bible and the Hobbit/Lord of the Rings – Dune is probably next in line for books I’ve read the most. But it has been a few years. It was interesting to note what was and what was not in the book – while I know where the book ended – it was the world building that had blurred in my mind. Rereading the book was like seeing an old friend. And I can’t wait to see the second movie.
