By Joe Posnanski
Joe Posnanski is my favorite living baseball writer. I’ve followed him around the last few years as he went independent, to The Athletic, and independent again. Over the last few years he has started and restarted this list with slightly different objectives each time. The list is not a strict ranking system, he explains this in the book. What is left is the top 100 players, with excellent stories about their lives, careers, and/or impact. Joe has a deep love and knowledge of the game. And this book is his magnum opus.
There is not one “ranking” book on a sport that is going to be agreed to be every fan. Likes and dislikes of players (or their reputations) and how you value various statistics, styles of play, or time period. But they do spark a great deal of conversation – much of it spirited.
I am curious to see his 101 best football player rankings…
