By: J.R.R. Tolkien
This book contains Tolkien’ translation and a lecture on Sir Gawain, and his translations of the Pearl and of Sir Orfeo. This was edited by his late son Christopher. Tolkien’s translations are always excellent and the transcription from his lecture is as interesting as three Medieval stories that he translated. I bought this in preparation for the movie The Green Knight, as the reviews I read said that it leaned heavily into the story without a ton of exposition as a reminder.
