2021 #42 – Star Wars: The High Republic: The Rising Storm

The Nihil are not finished – as the Republic believes. Without spoilers – this continues to show the divisions within the Republic and the Nihil. And as benefits a second book in series, the book ends on a cliff hanger that raises the stakes for the Republic. The High Republic is a time of high ideals and the breaking of that optimism. And this is a spoiler free review.

Cavan Scott writes teens well and the does a fairly good job of handling a large, diverse cast. The plot moves around and secrets abound. The problem I have is that the ensemble is so large, we don’t spend enough time with the characters I like.

Also, the most famous Jedi who lives in this time period – one Master Yoda – is off on sabbatical. Mentioned periodically, you would think that he would return… I do understand that if he is there at the beginning, one would think he would be able to head off the crisis. And when he returns…
