2021 #23 – Widowish

by Melissa Gould

Melissa Gould is a screenwriter on series like Lizzie McGuire, Bill Nye, the Science Guy; Party of Five; and Beverly Hills, 90210. She also is a widow – her husband Joel first was diagnosed with MS as an adult. And then caught West Nile Virus and ended up dying. This is a memoir about their relationship, Joel’s sickness(es), his death, and Melissa’s dealing with being a young widow – which is to say Widowish.

This was a good, but emotional read. I choose this book as my February Amazon First Read, and it took me two months to finish it… During this time my parish had 5 people pass away and I presided over 3 funerals. So, I read periodically read a chapter, and put it down in favor of something happier. Very good read but parts are very heavy.
